Even though I don’t yet know what your particular experience has been with making art or why you are wanting to learn to draw and paint at this particular time in your life, I think it is safe to assume you are interested in having more fun, relaxation and pleasure in your life.
Perhaps you want to be more imaginative, creative or intuitive? By that I mean an inner knowingness...that coming from deep within our unconscious self, as opposed to our intellect.
More insight into situations, more freedom and imagination to generate creative solutions may be what you’re looking for. Or, how about more aliveness, awareness and appreciation of the beauty? Or perhaps you’re wanting to develop more self-confidence..
I think we all love to explore and discover more about ourselves, especially when we feel free to create innocently in the moment without judgement and criticism from ourselves or others.
Many people, by adding art making to their lives, experience increased ability of imagination, insight and intuition, as well as greater freedom of expression and aliveness.
You may have had positive experiences with art in the past and that is why you are here now. You are ready for more! Or you may have had some past negative experiences related to art, and want to overcome the negative effects of that experience. Perhaps you are doubtful or even fearful of your own creativity.
I have taught many brave people who were invalidated in art when they were very young. It took a lot for them to come through my door. But their desire was strong enough to overcome that early programming, and as a result they now enjoy the freedom to draw and paint the way they always wanted.
